Prof. Ferrari co-authors an online article on Agenda Digitale: “Smart City Parma, metabolismo e sostenibilità: il viaggio verso il 2030.” In this article (pdf version), we discuss about Parma as a smart city, highlighting its metabolic and sustainable aspects. This article follows the meeting “Parma Smart Benchmarking” held in December 2017.

N. Strozzi and G. Ferrari participate to the 7th meeting of the NATO Research Task Group HFM–260 “Enhancing Warfighter Effectiveness with Wearable Bio Sensors and Physiologicol Models” in Portsmouth, UK. Attendees from USA, Canada, UK, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Italy come together for a concept demonstration. IoT Lab presented a live demo on hybrid GPS-inertial multiple person tracking.

In the panel, attendees discuss on the most relevant trends for Parma in a smart future, in the context of smart energy distribution and IoT-based monitoring.

Prof. Ferrari gives the invited speech “Parma 2030: inclusiva, attrattiva e sostenibile” at the meeting Parma Smart Benchmarking: equilibrio, inclusione, sostenibilità e attrattività, organized by FPA
and the Municipality of Parma in Palazzo del Governatore, Parma.
In his speech, Prof. Ferrari discusses the impact of IoT (multiple radio technologies, inertial navigation) and future telecommunications technologies (5G) on the development of smart cities.

The IoT Lab participates to the Notte dei ricercatori (Researchers’ Night) of the University of Parma, on September 29th. This event, promoted by the European Union at a European level, aims at stimulating people (especially young people) to approach the academic research world. The IoT Lab will present a few of its activity. Come and visit us.

In the presentation, Prof. Ferrari outlines the main results obtained by IoT Lab in collaboration with Istituto Auxologico Italiano, coordinated by Prof. Alessandro Mauro.
